ELLA J. BORDERS

ELLA J. BORDERS, the ninth child of Major Hugh Borders and wife, Luvicy Sepaugh Borders, was born January 15, 1849. She died of heart trouble January 1, 1926 and is buried in Sunset Cemetery, Shelby, North Carolina. She was married February 3, 1867 to John Stanhope Wray who enlisted and served in the Calvary during the Civil War, and was later Treasurer of Cleveland County for sixteen years. He died May 12, 1927 and also rests in Sunset Cemetery. To this union were born eight daughters and one son: Laura, Fannie, Margaret, Lili, John (daughter), Pearl, Maymi, Gladys and Hugh.

1. Laura Gertrude Wray was born January 19, 1868, and died November 29, 1936. She was married to Charles R. Doggett, December 16, 1884, and he died December 21, 1938. They had three children, as follows. Lollie May, John Wynn, and Charles Robert. Charles Robert Doggett died November 28, 1962 at the age of 69.

(a) Lollie May Doggett was born December 13, 1887, and married S. Nelson Lattimore, April 10, 1907. The have three children: Charles Thomas Lattimore, born February 29, 1908; Samuel Nelson, Jr. born June 23, 1910 and Laura May, November 1, 1914.

(b) John Wynn Doggett was born July 8, 1890, and was married to Florence Moss, June 15, 1920. They have two children; Mabel Wray, born May 2, 1921 anc Mary Leslie Doggett, born July 9, 1923.

(c) Charles Robert Doggett, Jr. was born January 1, 1893, and married Mary Francis Lide, July 14, 1925. They have no children. Charles Robert Doggett, Jr. died November 28, 1962.

2. Fannie Wray was born November 19, 1870, and married Hilary Thomas, Hudson, Jr., November 15,1891. He died April 27, 1925. To this union was born three children; Hilary Thomas, Jr., Harry Lee, and John Randolph.

(a) Hilary Thomas Hudson, Jr. was born August 5, 1892. He served in the World War in France in 1918, and is now located in New York City. He is unmarried.

(b) Harry Lee Hudson was born November 1, 1895, and was married to Ruby Thorne of Kingstree, South Carolina. He served in the World War and was severely wounded at Somme, France. The have one child, Fannie Wray, born July 6,1928.

(c) John Randolph Hudson was born December 7, 1897, and married Martha Breese, of Brevard, North Carolina. To this union three children were born; Martha Lee Hudson, 1929; John Randolph, Jr., 1931; and Frances Rebecca,1936. Martha Breese Hudson died January 29, 1966.

3. Margaret Wray was born July 21, 1873, and was married to Will H. Gardner, February 8, 1894. To this union two children were born.
