SUSAN BORDERS

SUSAN BORDERS, the seventh in the issue of Major Hugh Borders and wife Luvicy Sepaugh Borders, was born April 8, 1843, and was married to William Austell, October 7, 1872 They located near Limestone College, Gaffney, S. C., where she was educated. To this union were born three sons: William Nott; Charles Hugh; and Mortimer Lloyd.

1. William Nott Austell was born July 7, 1873, and was married to Ellen Garland, who died without issue.

2. Charles Hugh Austell was born January 28, 1878, and died July 18, 1937. He was unmarried. Charles represented his county (Cherokee, S. C.) in the legislature during 1931 and 1932.

3. Mortimer Lloyd Austell was born January 28, 1878, and died March 10, 1948. He married Edna Brown who now lives at Gaffney, S. C. To them was born one son, William Pitmann Austell, October 15, 1908. He is with the Special Service Department of the Southern Railway. He married Pauline Smith who is a registered nurse. They have two sons: Richard B. Austell, 1943; and William P. Austell, Jr., 1950.

Susan Borders Austell died December 9, 1917, in her 74th year, of apoplexy, after an illness of only 40 hours.
