JACOB S. BORDERS

JACOB S. BORDERS, the fourth child of Major Hugh Borders and wife, was married to Margaret Wray, May 29, 1860. He died January 3, 1913, at the age of 78 years. His wife Margaret died April 29, 1898, age 57 years. To this union were born seven children, to wit: William Lee, John Prescott, Georgia Hoke, Mary Phifer, Alphonso, Richard Springs, and Helen.

1. William Lee Borders was born November 14, 1861, and died September 28, 1865, age four years.

2. John Prescott Borders was born May 7, 1865, and died November 3, 1894, unmarried and is buried in Sunset Cemetery, Shelby, North Carolina.

3. Georgia Hoke Borders was born June 5, 1867 and died June 11, 1888. She was married to Will L. Dameron, year 1867, leaving no issue.

4. Mary Phifer Borders was born November 25, 1869 and died August 16, 1908. She was married to Thomas S. Ewers, December 3, 1895. She was survived by one child; Janie Helen Ewers, who was married to Charles H. Williams, September 2, 1920.

5. Alphonso Borders was born October 28, 1872 and died February 3, 1918. He was married to Katherine Beauchamp, June 26, 1910, leaving no issue.

6. Richard Springs Borders was born October 27, 1876 and was married April 15, 1910 to Lelia Wilderson. Their home is in Nashville, Tennessee. Richard Springs Borders died March 2, 1968.

7. Helen Borders was born May 27, 1879 and was married to Frederick Robert Morgan April 11, 1899. He died July 31, 1933, survived by his widow and two children: Charles Gerald Morgan and Margaret Mahala Morgan.

(a) Charles Gerald Morgan was born July 26, 1900 and married Frances McBrayer June 19, 1926. Gerald Morgan died in the fall of 1953.

(b) Margaret Mahala Morgan was born 1902 and married B. 0. Stephenson, June 24, 1926. He died July 2, 1955. To this union was born a daughter, Helen Elizabeth Stephenson, born 1928. She married Lyndon Hobbs of Chapel Hill on October 23, 1951. To this union were born three children: Margaret, born 1955; Gretchen, 1957 and Lyndon, 1959.
