JOHN H. BORDERS

JOHN H BORDERS, the eldest son of Major Hugh Borders and wife was married the first time to Rossie Green, then of Cleveland County, North Carolina, on March 18, 1858, and with her moved to Texas where they lived a number of years and where his wife died.

Their only child, Willie Borders, was born in Texas, January 22, 1861. After the death of her mother, she and her father moved back to Cleveland County where they located permanently

John H. Borders served for a time in the Civil War in a Texas regiment. He married the second time to Catherine Roberts of Cleveland County on February 16, 1875. To this marriage no children were born. He died in 1892, of cancer of the stomach, at the age of 65 and is buried in Sunset Cemetery, Shelby, N. C.

I. Willie Borders was married to George W. Kendrick, January 15, 1880, and to this union was born two children: Rosie and Arthur G.

(a) Rossie Kendrick was married to W. G. Bird in 1909 and one child, Virginia, was born to this marriage. Virginia Bird was married to Harold D. Crawford, May 27, 1930, and they have one son, William Bird Crawford, who was born in 1938. W. C. Bird died December 12, 1936.

(b) Arthur G. Kendrick was married but died without issue, August 8, 1924, and is buried at Kings Mountain, N. C.

Willie Borders Kendrick died February 14, 1936, and she too rests in the cemetery at Kings mountain.
