Jake S. Borders, William Borders, Mrs. Eliza Black, Mrs. Mary Jane Austell Mrs. Susan Austell, Mrs. Ella Wray, and Mrs. Kate Kerr. All of the foregoing are dead, except William Borders, and all were survived by issue. One son, James Borders, who was a surgeon in the Civil War died during the war, unmarried and without issue.

It is to be hoped that the committee this day appointed will be worthy of the men and women with whom it shall deal and that same will be printed in pamphlet form that each descendant may have one for the information by generations yet unborn.

The Borders Family is deeply indebted to Mr. J. H. Quinn, who was a distinguished lawyer of Shelby, North Carolina, for his laborious efforts in compiling most of the family records which follow. Mr. Quinn died on the 22nd day of January, 1937.
