Here are some of the "Mysteries" as I see them:
Where William, the father of the Ohio Austills, was born & his parents.
The parents & birthplace of Isaac Austill, father of the Indiana and Alabama Austills.
The birthplace & parentage of William Austell, Sr. the father of the South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee Austells. Also evidence of the relationship between he and Isaac. They appear in the same general areas in the same time-frames, but hard evidence of their possible connections has not surfaced, to the best of my knowledge.
The descendants of Joseph and Sarah Austill, of Ore, England, who immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1699, and their possible connections with any and all of the above families.
Information on the existence of G.W. Austell, etc. Especially whether he immigrated from England or was "sent" from the Colonies to England and returned, (I've seen it both ways); and, of course, his connection with the others.
Of course, we're "dipping heavily into antiquity" with these questions. But more and more information is being "unearthed" all the time, so answers may still be forthcoming. One "new" discovery is a marriage record of an Austill woman in Pennnsylvania around 1790 (but no details). Previously I had seen no evidence of the family in Pennsylvania around those times.
We would all like to hear from anyone who has information on the family in these early times, but then, we love to hear from those with more recent information, too!
My biggest mystery, concerning my direct line, the Indiana Austills, is where my Great-Grandfather and family went when they disappeared from Warrick County, Indiana, between 1893 and 1900. My guess is somewhere in Missouri, or possibly southern Illinois. Maybe someday soon...
