MARTHA CATHERINE BORDERS

MARTHA CATHERINE BORDERS, the tenth and youngest child of Major Hugh Borders and wife, was born July 25, 1853, and was married to R. E. Kerr, October 5, 1870. She died November 18'. 1892, of tuberculosis, and is buried at Elizabeth Church, near Shelby, N. C. To this marriage were born five children as follows : Minnie Lee, Frank Anderson, Jessie, Alma Catherine and William Henry.

1. Minnie Lee Kerr was born March 17, 1878, and was married to C. H. Robbins, of Gaffney, S. C., October 30, 1901.

2. Frank Anderson Kerr was born October 8, 1880 and is unmarried.

3. Jessie Kerr was born August 11, 1884 and is unmarried.

4. Alma Catherine Kerr was born September 30, l888, and was married to C. Gladden in 1914. To this union no children were born.

5. William Henry Kerr was born August 14, 1891, and died March 5, 1892. The surviving members of this family live in Gaffney, South Carolina.

R. E. Kerr married a second time and located in South Carolina where he reared a second family.
