Joseph Hopson Austell, Jr. was married the second time to E. Roberts of Shelby, N.C. December 14, 1911. To this union were born two children; Virginia and Joseph Roberts Austell. Joseph Hopson Austell died September 7, 1943. E. Roberts died August 13, 1949.

(a) Joseph Roberts Austell married Frances Jones, May, 1946. They have two children; Susan Lee, 1950; and Cynthia Ann, 1954. Susan Austell married John Ross Wrigley.

(b) Virginia Austell married Marion W. Bird, August 24, 1941. They have four children; Carolyn, born in 1943; Mary Jo, 1946; Marion, 1948; and Thomas Monroe, 1954.

(a-i) Carolyn Bird married John Mew, Jr.,in 1967.

(a-2) Mary Jo Bird married Dona1d Ray Conway, 1972 .

(a-3) Marion Bird Hagins married Larry R. Hester, in 1972. To this union was born Richard Thomas, in 1973.

7. Oscar Forest Austell was born September 20, 1872, and was married to Mamie Lowery, December 5, 1900. He died September 9, 1941. She died April 28, 1965. To this union were born ten children; Aileen, Agnes, Jesse Lowery, Samuel Hayward, William Arey, Rebecca, Mary Sue, Joseph, Forest, Violet, and Thomas Maynard.

(a) Aileen Austell was born 1901, and was married to Lawson Herbert Harrill, December 26, 1921. Lawson Harrill died April 24, 1948. To this union were born three children; Sara Aileen, Robert Austell and Thomas Lawson.

(a-i) Sara Aileen Harrill was born 1925, and was married to Curtis David Baysinger on December 17, 1955. They have three children; Curtis David, Jr., Karen Leigh, 1959; and Bruce Malcom, 1961.

(a-2) Robert Austell Harrill was born 1927 and was married to Mary Anne Byers, February 28, 1954.

(a-3) Thomas Lawson Harrill was born in 1939, and married Olivia Anne Conway in 1966. They have three children; Thomas Lawson, Jr., 1969; and Paula Anne, 1972, and Joshua Austell born in 1989.

(b) Agnes Austell was born November 18, 1903, and was married to William Hayne Patterson, Jr., August 4, 1924. To this union were born four children; Jeraldine Austell, Mary Agnes, William Hayne, III, and Betty Lewis. Hayne Patterson died in 1988, Agnes died in 1989.

(b-i) Jeraldine Austell Patterson was born July 16, 1925 and died August 28, 1925.

(b-2) Mary Agnes Patterson was born October 20, 1926 and died October 25, 1926.

(b-3) William Hayne Patterson, born was born November 25, 1927 and is unmarried. He died in 1991.
